Bhai Dhuj
భాయ్ దూజ్
📅 November 10, 2026 (Tuesday)
Bhai Dhuj (also Bhai Dooj, Bhaubeej or Bhai Tika) is a festival celebrating the love between brothers and sisters — observed two days after Diwali. Sisters perform aarti and apply tilak on their brothers' foreheads, praying for their long life.
Significance
According to mythology, Yamraj (Lord of Death) visited his sister Yami (Yamuna) on this day. She welcomed him with aarti and sweets — and he blessed her, declaring that those who receive tilak from their sisters on this day would be freed from the fear of death. Hence, Bhai Dhuj is also called Yam Dwitiya.
